Weight Loss Diets Compared
So which diet is the best?
When the time comes once again to get rid of some of the excess flab accumulated over the winter
The question arises "Which diet is the best?"
We are all different but we all have the same goal:
a diet that can make us thin quickly!
Some sort of miracle pill....
An eating plan that makes fat go away never tor return.....
And most important of all:
How to make all the weight lost by dieting stay lost for ever!
There are many diets published in magazines and on the Internet,
but which is the best way of dieting to bring your body back in shape?
Due to the growing number of people who are overweight
the weight loss industry has grown at a tremendous rate and is still growing every year.
Nowadays anyone with a fashionable idea and some marketing flair can make almost any
sort of strange diet into the newest popular fad.
And there are a LOT of diets out there.
We are only going to reveiw the best-known diets,
since a review of all the diets floating around the industry would be beyond the scope of this article.
So let’s start with one of the latest fad of the dieting world: the Atkins diet.
There are many articles praising the extraordinary results of the Atkins diet
backed up by a lot of satisfied customers.
This diet allows you to eat high fat dairy products like cheese and butter.
However, the Atkins diet has fallen in popularity due to suspicions of increased risk of heart disease,
and some followers complain of diarrhea, weakness, muscle cramps and rashes.
The debate over the scientific fundamentals of this diet is still continuing.
Next is the Zone diet, the brainchild of Barry Sears.
It is about eating the right mix of foods to reach a proper hormonal balance.
This state of balance is called the “Zone” where the body take in calories
and uses them through the day without putting anything aside as fat.
Unfortunately, this diet discriminates among different foods without any scientific basis.
Starchy vegetables, whole grains and beans are banned,
although these foods are not in conflict with the principles of the diet.
The American Heart Association says the Zone diet lacks essential nutrients while promoting high-protein foods.
The Jenny Craig diet is one of the longest running diets, having started
in the early 1980s. The basic idea is simply to buy the Jenny Craig prepackaged food.
But that costs some $100 per week, plus membership costs,
The diet is pretty good, if a bit expensive.
(Similar low-calorie foods can be bought at any grocery store for much less)
but if you want the attention of and the ability to discuss your diet with a Jenny Craig expert
who will insist on your eating the prepackaged food....
From sunny Florida comes the South Beach diet.
This one seems to have the right idea but the wrong approach...
A lot of people have managed to lose weight with this diet and it does actually works.
The question is: can you really stick to it?
The first phase of the diet lasting two weeks will eliminate most foods containing carbohydrates from your daily consumption.
The second phase focuses on whole grains and fruits and lasts as long as necessary.
If reaching the desired weight takes you one year, then that’s exactly how long this phase is going to last.
And if you don’t like the foods allowed by this diet then you’re out of luck. There are no alternatives.
Another dieting program that has been around for a long time is
Weight Watchers.
This is actually one of the best diets around because it puts all the management tools in the hands of the user.
If you are really committed to losing weight, you have all the information you need to do it.
And you have the support of a lot of people who are going through the same thing.
If having company when you are dieting helps your willpower, then you are probably going to lose that extra weight.
If you don’t like the idea of being constantly under peer pressure, then this diet is not for you.
There are a lot of diets to choose from, the above short reveiw just skimmed the surface and there
are hundreds more.
When choosing a diet do as much research as possible.
See what people who tried it have to say. See what doctors and dietitians have to say about it.
A good diet will have people supporting it but also there will be others trying to prove the diet wrong.
Pay special attention to what the doctors have to say.
If they tell you a certain diet can be risky then think twice before trying it.
